THE NISSAN NAVARA WITH AVM CONQUERS MINDORO ON ITS THIRD ANNIVERSARY
MONDAY | March 12, 2018
Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) celebrates the Navara’s third year in the market with an exciting adventure at Mt. Malasimbo, Oriental Mindoro. The Nissan Navara Drive Experience 2018 highlights the vehicle’s newest feature: the Around View Monitor (AVM) from the Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) suite
The Navara combines brute strength with premium ride comfort, thanks to its 2.5-liter engine and robust multi-link suspension system. Now equipped with AVM, which provides drivers with a virtual and composite 360° bird’s-eye view of the car from above, this versatile pick-up is tough as usual and smarter than ever.
“The Navara is one of our most successful vehicles in the market. In less than two years after its debut, the car is now top three on the local pick-up segment rankings,” says Ramesh Narasimhan, NPI President and Managing Director. “This year, as previously mentioned in our Media Thanksgiving party, we are excited to showcase the capabilities of the new Navara with AVM through an upgraded driving experience at Mt. Malasimbo.”
Motoring and tech media representatives embark on a six-hour drive from Occidental Mindoro to Mt. Malasimbo. En route to the destination, the convoy passes through gravel, unfinished roads, remote paths with multiple blind spots, busy streets, steep inclines, and narrow lanes. The Navara’s zero-gravity designed front seats and ingenious rear cabin keep the participants comfortable, despite the challenging conditions.
At the Mount Malasimbo, guests drive as many laps as possible using the glamping site as their obstacle course to test the Navara’s features. With its powerful engine and technical driving tools such as Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control, and Vehicle Dynamics Stability Control, the Navara takes on the slopes with ease. The AVM allows drivers to take accurate and calculated turns at Mt. Malasimbo’s steep and narrow inclines. The picturesque mountain views and Mindoro’s beautiful coastline also provide the perfect backdrop for the Navara’s cutting-edge design and effortless style.
“Nissan holds the distinction as the first automotive company to conduct a media drive in Mt. Malasimbo. Also, as part of our mantra to change the game this year, we wanted to explore the peak before crowds flock the area for the 8th Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival,” shares Narasimhan. “We are also proud to be the official vehicle partner of this momentous cultural event. We hope that we can share the Navara experience to even more people.”
The media drive also marks the third year of Nissan’s partnership with Coleman. The outdoor recreation products company supplies the camping tents, chairs, and coolers for the event.
The Nissan Navara is available in the standard and sport variant in all Nissan dealerships nationwide.
